What is the Cultivando Maestras/os Kern Multilingual Residency Program?
The Cultivando Maestras/os Kern Multilingual Residency Program is a year long teacher preparation program dedicated to cultivating outstanding bilingual educators. Through the unique partnership between the Arvin Union School District, the Lamont Elementary School District and CSU Bakersfield, we offer teacher residents the opportunity to complete their credential clinical practice in a Dual Language Immersion classroom setting. Teacher residents will be carefully selected and matched to highly skilled Dual Language Immersion mentor teachers who will guide and train them through co-planning, co-teaching and by having reflective conversations to provide valuable feedback. Credential coursework classes will be offered at school sites in Arvin and Lamont. Our classes will be co-taught by faculty from both CSU Bakersfield and Arvin / Lamont mentors, making the content relevant to what is occurring in Dual Language Immersion classrooms that the residents are placed in. The Kern Multilingual Residency Program is committed to the development of high quality dual language educators that will serve our community's emerging, expanding and established Dual Language Immersion programs.
